ASSET CERTIFICATION AND MEMBERSHIP GRADES
Under the Heath & Safety at Work Act, work on critical, pressure, safety and life support systems must be carried out by a “Competent Person”.
A broad definition of “Competence” is a person who is both “qualified and experienced” in his/her area of endeavor. There are no specific definitions for each craft or trade though competence may be defined by an industry organization or by legal precedent.
The Association of SCUBA Service Engineers and Technicians is working with the HSE in order to define competence levels for Diving Technicians.
The ASSET training and membership schemes provide both the Industry and the Technician with credibility.
By meeting qualification criteria and maintaining ASSET Membership the individual Technician will have the means to demonstrate “Competence”.
